MPPSC mains consist of 6 papers which are descriptive in nature, the first four papers can be written in English or in Hindi medium while last two papers have to be written in Hindi only.

The MPPSC mains is total of 1400 marks and the topper in mains exam secure around 825 to 875 marks which differs from the level of difficulty of mains examination of respective years. The exam paper duration for first 5 papers is of 3 hours while the last paper (Essay writing in mppsc) is of 2 hours.The interview of MPPSC is off 175 marks.
The new syllabus of MPPSC 2020 onwards is slightly different with the previous one where the question asking pattern and word limit is different it is as follows:-
The first three papers consist of total 10 units and each unit will carry 30 marks and the questions which will be further divided into following pattern
From each unit

Paper 6 — Essay 100 marks
Total –1400
Interview — 175
Grand total — 1575
